Siemens Healthcare has won a contract worth more than €50m to supply diagnostic imaging equipment to around 100 ministry of health hospitals across Iraq.

The equipment, which includes magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography, mobile x-rays and mammography systems, is intended to help the earlier detection of diseases.

Iraq’s minister of health, Ali Saleh Al Hasnawi, said: “We are excited to be working closely with Siemens to offer this broad range of diagnostic services to all ministry hospitals across Iraq.

"We have been a regular customer of Siemens for more than 30 years and are confident of the quality of their products, innovative solutions and excellent service history.”

The five year contract is the biggest single order contract ever to be awarded to Siemens Healthcare in the Middle East.

Vice president Siemens Healthcare sector Middle East, Maurice Faber said: “We are very proud to announce this agreement as it means we are playing an active role in helping to rebuild healthcare services in Iraq.

“One major result of this contract will be improved healthcare for all Iraqi people, and advanced breast cancer screening facilities for women in Iraq.”
