Child and adult care specialist, OLM Group, has acquired care training publishers Pavilion Publishing.

Pavilion will merge with OLM’s online publishing arm, E-Business, which publishes the websites Bettercaring.com and CareKnowledge.com, to create a new information and publishing company focused on the care sector.

Pavilion specialises in social care publishing, professional training materials, specialist events and national conferencing.

Its publications include trade journals and magazines such as Mental Health Today, Learning Disability Today and Drugs and Alcohol Today.

In addition, they host conferences and exhibitions for those working within the health, social and housing fields.

James Marsland, director of OLM E-Business, told EHI Primary Care: “We already publish material on Bettercaring, which gets 500,000 hits a year and CareKnowledge is our dedicated knowledge management platform, so we felt the time was right to make a strategic decision and expand this side of our business.”

Chris Parker, founding director of Pavilion Publishing, added: “The move is a great fit for us as a traditional publishing company and will enable us to deliver our content in new and innovative ways on the web… we will now be able to offer customers information in more flexible ways.”

OLM Group already licenses Pavilion Publishing to publish content copy for its CareKnowledge service, which is delivered to 15,000 local authority and social services staff.

The two companies also co-publish a learning disabilities service provider directory.

Peter O’Hara, CEO of OLM Group, said: “The combination of Pavilion’s publishing brands and content together with OLM’s technology platform, offer the opportunity to build a modern integrated media business.”
