All GPs using EMIS Web can access their clinical records on the go.
Following pilots with a number of early adopters, EMIS has made its mobile solution available to all Web customers.
EMIS Mobile allows clinicians to access their clinical record system across all the main tablet platforms. They can work on and offline if there is no connectivity.
EMIS Web has been installed at more than 1600 practices and EMIS Mobile is also being made available to community, child health and mental health clinicians who use the system.
The company said it could not give details of the number of orders for the EMIS Mobile because it was due to release its financial results next March. It confirmed there were a range of pricing options for those who wanted to take the mobile app.
Dr Shaun O’Hanlon, clinical and development director at EMIS said: “It is much more than an app – it is a sophisticated, function-rich clinical system on the GP’s preferred tablet device, fully integrated into their practice system.
“Clinicians will be able to conduct fully coded assessments and consultations, access their appointment book and diary, create tasks for follow ups and referrals and capture key information for QOF and Community Information Data set purposes,” he added.
Dr Alan Mills, a partner at the Comberton Surgery in Cambridgeshire, described EMIS Mobile as an essential tool for any GP who is looking after patients in nursing or residential homes.
“It is practical and user friendly with clean, easily readable navigation,” he said.
“It is easy to move around the patient record, and synchronisation is simple.
“EMIS Mobile is completely intuitive to use – I know that I could give it to a technophobe colleague and they would be using it within minutes.”
The mobile app was unveiled in September last year when the company said it would be available to all users by the end of 2012.
