iSOFT linked to GE in takeover rumours

Manchester-based iSOFT saw a fillip in its share price early this week on the back of rumours in the financial markets that US technology giants were eyeing the firm as a potential takeover target.


Reports from the US linked the medical information systems company with a bid from GE Medical. Other possible predators touted included EDS and IBM.


iSOFT is a leading software supplier to the £6.2 billion NHS National Programme for IT, creating applications for hospitals and GP practices.  The company is also expected to announce deals in Singapore and Germany in the near future, with the huge US health IT market also thought to be in its sights.
